Dr. Hunter Downs
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Dr. Hunter Downs has a Ph.D. in Medical Physics and B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas. Dr. Downs has over 25 years experience in research and product development in the medical, scientific, and technology sectors. Dr. Downs is Chief Technology Officer at Archinoetics, a technology innovations firm and former Associate Professor of Psychiatric Medicine, Neurological Surgery, and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia, and Expert Consultant to the U.S. Army’s National Ground Intelligence Center. Dr. Downs’s research resulted in over 60 scientific publications, the appointment of principal investigator on over thirty different awards (totaling more than $30M) for projects on topics including intelligent algorithms for fatigue prediction and augmented cognition and the development of a commercial system for nuclear medicine image processing and products for monitoring human fatigue. His career success earned awards including 2011’s Entrepreneur of the Year by the Hawaii Venture Capital Association and the 2006 best business leader of Pacific Business News “Forty under Forty” in Hawaii. Dr. Downs is a major shareholder, Board Member and essential leader of Fatigue Science team.
Michael Byrne
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Michael Byrne is a Chartered Accountant in Vancouver, BC that specializes in income tax. Byrne founded Byrne & Associates in 1992, an accounting firm with a client focus of Doctors and Dentists. In 2004, Byrne founded Galore Resources Inc., a gold mining exploration company as President and CFO. In 2006, he successfully took Galore public on the TSX Venture and has since been involved in raising over $10,000,000 in capital. In 2008, he was appointed Director and Chairman of the Audit committee of Commander Resources Ltd. Mr. Byrne is a shareholder of Fatigue Science and was appointed as director in 2009. Mr. Byrne’s extensive background in finance, accounting, public regulatory requirements, audit committees and raising capital is a key asset to the Fatigue Science team.
Dr. John Caldwell
CHIEF SCIENCE OFFICER

Dr. John Caldwell has a PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi. He has over 25 years of research and development experience in fatigue, sleep, psychophysiology, and pharmacology aimed at improving safety and performance. Dr. Caldwell’s renowned knowledge stems from years of work with the U.S. Army and Air Force analyzing cognitive, mood, personality, and physiological data from pilots and other high fatigue risk personnel as well as his counter-fatigue research with NASA’s Human Factors Division at Ames Research Center. Dr. Caldwell has over 100 recognized published works, has conducted over 100 global presentations, workshops and international keynote speaking spots focused on counter-fatigue to physicians, pilots, scientists, and the general public. His research in operational counter-fatigue with the military, air force and NASA have earned him the 2005 Harold Brown Award, the 2007 Harold Moseley Award, the US Army’s Meritorious Service Award, the Superior Service Award and the Commander’s Award among others. Dr. Caldwell continues to consult for NASA, the Army, Air Force, and Marines and is fundamental to the Fatigue Science team.
John Prest
VICE PRESIDENT, HEALTH & WELLNESS

John Prest has a B.S. Economics Degree in Ag. Science from the University of Kentucky. He has over 30 years of international experience in business and organizational development, licensing, operations management, sales and marketing and product management functions. Prest has held long-term positions in the international specialty chemical divisions of CIBA-Geigy, Hoechst- Roussel, RTZ, Ltd. and Harris Chemical. He was also founder of three technology start-ups in the medical products and diagnostics industry. Prest’s extensive knowledge in international business development, marketing and sales is an integral part of the Fatigue Science team.
Pat Byrne
VICE PRESIDENT, FATIGUE RISK

Pat Byrne has a Masters of Science, a B Sc. in Biology and Chemistry from Western Washington University and is a Certified Industrial Hygienist. He has over 28 years of experience in accident prevention and is a renowned international expert in fatigue risk management. Former positions include, President of Global Fatigue Management Inc.; a Canadian based research and consulting company specializing in fatigue management, National President of the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists, Chair of the national ethics committee, National Columnist with the Canadian Occupational Safety Magazine and Canadian Director on the board of the International Occupational Hygiene Association providing technical and policy advice concerning occupational health and safety risk management. Mr. Byrne’s extensive expertise and qualifications have resulted in invitations to speak and lecture at international conferences including the Law School and Department of Health Care & Epidemiology at the University of British Columbia. In addition, he has been appointed to the Board of the International Occupational Hygiene Association and the American Board of industrial Hygiene. Mr. Byrne’s extensive experience and qualifications in Fatigue Risk Management, health and safety and international markets are vital to the Fatigue Science team.
Erica Bearss
VICE PRESIDENT, COMMUNICATIONS

Erica Bearss has a Masters in Business (MBA) from Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC (2010), a Bachelors degree in Modern Language and Literature with a concentration in Spanish from the University of Ottawa and a Certificate in Public Companies: Financing, Governance, and Compliance from Simon Fraser University. Ms. Bearss has over 15 years experience in public relations, marketing and communications predominately focused on corporate communications for publicly trading companies. Ms. Bearss is fluent in three languages, has held positions with the Canadian High Commission in Trinidad and Tobago and Buffalo NY and spent the last ten years as a Vice President of Corporate Communications for publicly trading resource, precious metals and oil and gas companies. She was recently appointed to the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of Signature Resources, a resource company requiring advise and capital raising for its Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the TSX Venture Exchange. Ms. Bearss has widespread experience and qualifications in marketing and communications, public company compliance, raising capital, management consulting, global market trends (in diverse sectors) and will be a vital part of the Fatigue Science team.
