Transport
Scheduling in the transport industry is a complex and ever-changing task.
Transportation – whether aviation, rail, marine, or trucking – requires personnel to work non-standard and lengthy duty schedules that are known to cause dangerous levels of fatigue and sometimes accidents.
A major study funded by the U.S. Federal Railway Administration (FRA) validated our Sleep, Activity, Fatigue, and Task Effectiveness (SAFTE®) model and Fatigue Avoidance Scheduling Tool (FAST®) as accurate predictors of fatigue-related accidents. Our Fatigue Avoidance Scheduling Tool for Aviation (FAST®–Aviation) is validated by the Department of Transportation.
Although it is impossible to completely eliminate fatigue in the workplace, the Fatigue Science approach of measuring, mitigating, and evaluating forms a continuous improvement process that is proven to significantly reduce the impact of fatigue on safety.
The ReadiBand™ establishes whether personnel are adequately alert when on duty. The Fatigue Avoidance Scheduling Tool (FAST®) identifies scheduling factors within your organization that create unnecessarily high levels of fatigue.
Using these tools to identify the sources and magnitude of the fatigue problem is key to effective fatigue reduction. The Fatigue Science approach works – that’s why world-class transportation companies have integrated our tools into their scheduling system.
